Who We Are
Abiding in Truth exists to make disciples of Jesus Christ—men and women who submit every part of life to the Gospel for the glory of God.
We provide biblical counseling, not licensed mental health services. We are not state-licensed clinicians or “mental health professionals,” and we want to be clear and honest about that distinction. Our work is rooted in Scripture and discipleship, not in secular psychology or therapeutic models.
Our counselors are trained in biblical counseling and are actively pursuing certification and ongoing education. We value accountability, transparency, and faithfulness to God’s Word, and we are committed to handling Scripture carefully and responsibly as we counsel others.
Because our approach is gospel-centered, we speak directly and freely to matters of the heart—sin struggles, suffering, personal responsibility, and spiritual growth. The Gospel is the central message we proclaim, and we seek to build every aspect of life around Christ rather than human philosophy or tradition (Colossians 2:8).
Biblical Counseling vs. Christian Counseling
While there may be areas of overlap, biblical counseling is distinct. We believe the Word of God is fully sufficient and authoritative for understanding humanity, diagnosing our deepest problems, and guiding true transformation. Rather than borrowing secular psychological methods, we rely on Scripture to shape how we understand change.
Our goal is not mere behavior modification. We aim for heart transformation—that desires would be reshaped so that obedience flows naturally, all for the glory of God.
Scripture assures us that God has given us everything we need for life and godliness through knowing Christ (2 Peter 1:3). God’s Word is enough to help us face suffering, battle sin, and grow into Christlikeness in every season of life.
We exist to help people glorify God by abiding in Christ—the true Vine—so that healing, hope, and lasting transformation are produced for His glory.
Damon is currently pursuing certification in biblical counseling through ACBC and anticipates completing the program in 2026.
